“also Soup Stock Tokyo” is a restaurant specializing in soup, and is located in the center of Jiyugaoka, Tokyo, with its west side and south side facing the corner of a street.

Jiyugaoka is renowned of its charming cityspace in human scale, and this project was located in one of the most lively areas of the town. The basic idea was to extend the lively charming street of Jiyugaoka into the restaurant, and also three-dimensionally, up to the second and third floor terrace. The restaurant area on the ground floor with a two-story height ceiling and its skip floor allows an open view of the second floor, and from the second floor, you could enjoy the open view of the third floor terrace. The side facing the streets are covered with steel sash structures, allowing an open view of the inside from even a far distance. The street-side corner on the first floor can be widely open by opening the four-panel sliding doors on both side, enabling the restaurant to flatly connect with the street. Repetitive one-way windows on the south side also create a fun impression to the exterior. The open view and airy flow can be seen together with the people flowing in and out.

The lively atmosphere would be also conveyed to those walking down the street. Appetizing scent of soup float out from the kitchen on the backside of the first floor. We hope that the lively atmosphere of the restaurant and the enjoyable feeling of its street would blend in together, and further enhance the enticing cityscape of Jiyugaoka.
