The interior architecture of the comfort station at Münster University Hospital is pleasantly surprising. The entire volume is a 150-meter-long new building set on top of the existing building and designed by Manfred Haverkamp, right down to the exterior facade.
The ward has a homely feel and at the same time radiates medical professionalism. The highest hygienic standards are achieved. Spatially problematic, cone-like old structures of the existing building (air conditioning outlets on the roof) are interpreted as floating ceiling elements.

Newly created atriums in the corridors provide a view of the sky and mini-gardens. The rectangularity of the usual cubatures is broken by the interior architecture. Architecture meets nature. Sympathetic curves of wood and interesting lighting design characterize the impression. The sand-colored organic floor, developed by the interior designer, appears as if fanned by the wind. Cushion-like wooden elements point the way to the patient rooms. The rooms are also equally functional and refined-minimalist.

A human-oriented room program, gently swaying surfaces, sophisticated details and calm surfaces create the soothing and professional atmosphere.
