In 2020 we presented 42 Buildings of the Week, featuring short Q&As with architects about recently completed buildings in the United States. It's your turn to help us crown a Building of the Year by voting for your favorite this month. The winner will be announced in February.
As in previous years, the presentation of buildings is heavy on single-family houses, that most American building type. They are accompanied by multi-family apartment buildings as well as some civic buildings, offices, schools, museums, recreational facilities, and hospitality projects. The mix of buildings, as evidenced by the thumbnails above, reflects the diversity of the United States and the architects practicing there.
Visit the voting page on American-Architects.com to cast a vote for your favorite project. Deadline is January 31, 2021, with results presented on our website one day later, on the first of February.
Throughout the year, buildings are selected by our editors after seeing them firsthand, coming across them online or in print, or hearing about them directly from architects. For 2021 the Building of the Week feature is focusing, though not exclusively, on adaptive reuse projects, following from the sustainably minded assertion that the greenest building is the one that already exists. Know of a project that fits the bill? Just email us for consideration.
The German-Architects, Swiss-Architects and Austria-Architects platforms are also holding polls for their respective "Bau des Jahres." Visit them to see more great projects and cast more votes:
