According to a statement from ARM Architecture, who gained the commission in 2015, the project had three principal goals: "improve the functionality of the room," "cater to different types of performances," and "[make] it more accessible for people." Changes to the hall include the addition of acoustic "petals" suspended over the stage to better disperse sound to the orchestra and the audience, lowering the stage to improve sight lines, and installing automatic risers on stage for the musicians. The four-minute time-lapse video below shows the concert hall's two years of construction, capturing these changes and other parts of the project.
