The announcement comes at about the halfway point between the announcement of the Biennial's theme  – "The State of the Art of Architecture" – last November and the opening of the event at the Chicago Cultural Center and other venues in the fall of this year. In addition to the exhibits, projects and installations created by the more than 60 participants around the theme, the Biennial also includes four Lakefront Kiosks – one to be built by the winner of an open design competition and three to be designed and built by local schools.
