On June 7, MuCEM (Musée des civilizations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée) officially opened its doors in Marseille. The project of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication is the first national museum outside Paris and is part of the Marseille-Provence 2013 European Capital of Culture (previously we featured Norman Foster's "Mirror" as a Found). Architect Rudy Riccotti's design—10 years in the making—is sure to be an icon on the French coast; the lattice-wrapped glass box is linked to the city's Fort Saint-Jean by a slender walkway.
